Huge green bottles can be found everywhere in the area and we love them! Ever since we moved here I have been collecting them. I found a few in the streets next to the garbage containers, I also got a few for free at Nino´s in Bistagno, one of our local second hand shops.
Just recently I went to Econet, our municipal waste recycling point in Acqui Terme and I went prepared! I wore my safety shoes because, sure enough, I discovered a big green bottle in the large container filled with broken glass. The guy shook his head and got the bottle out for me and said: what do you foreigners do with these bottles? So I showed him this photo. These beautiful bottles are called damagiana and were used by farmers to store wine, vinegar, olive oil or liquors.
